Introduction:

With Headquarters at Barrackpore in the district of North 24 Parganas in West Bengal Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission is a charitable and philanthropic society registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. It is at a distance of 25 km. from the city of Kolkata and has been serving as a vehicle to propagate and practice the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The great patriot monk realized that education only can eradicate the destitution of the masses. He spoke, “Education, education, education alone! Travelling through many cities of Europe and observing in them the comforts and education of even the poor people, there was brought to my mind the state of our own poor people, and I used to shed tears. What made the difference? Education was the answer I got.” Accordingly the Mission has established a number of schools upto Higher Secondary standard, a B.Ed. College and a Degree College with Honours and General subjects as well as a Post Graduate course.
